Challenge: Restore access to a fragile 25m × 40m glass-paned roof—untouched since the 1990s

The Legacy Challenge

For decades, maintenance teams at Grand West Casino had wrestled with the near-impossible task: how to safely clean and repair a vast glass courtyard roof without stepping foot on it. Dust, grime, and water leaks threatened both the aesthetics and integrity of the space—but access remained elusive.

That’s when TRA-COL Solutions stepped in.

Our Answer: A Suspended, Rolling Masterpiece

TRA-COL engineered a lightweight, high-strength steel walkway system suspended above the glass and capable of gliding across the full roof span via custom rails. Built to defy logistical constraints, the structure was:

• Pre-assembled in modular sections and lifted by crane

• Assembled entirely by hand at roof level, with zero onsite welding

• Crafted from fully galvanized steel components for corrosion protection and long-term durability

• Paired with four equally suspended rolling staircases, concealed from public view when not in use to maintain the casino’s visual glass roof appeal
